Kart Racing at Circleville Raceway Park
Hello Fellow Kart Racers,
It's been a while since there has been any activity on this board so maybe this bit of news I have will bring it back to life. I received a call yesterday from Steve Tatman.
Steve is wanting to open up CRP for Kart racing again for the 2019 season. We had a long talk and discussed several things, and I will pass on the information to any and all who are interested. Here is what Steve wants to do.
- Steve will run the races himself (no club) - A 6 race series from May to July. (August being too hot and several things going on in August.) -Open tire rule -Sunday races -Classes we talked about are: 80cc shifter LO206 Senior Yamaha Super Can Kid Karts LO206 Junior
The Dirt track is no longer. one of our old club members, Mark Kupper is there with a dozer clearing it off and filling it in. Where the dirt track met the pavement on the sprint track, will be moved and a 30+foot run off area will be there. He has someone who will tar and fill the cracks in the track and also do needed repairs and re-stripe the track with white instead of yellow, and paint curbs red and white. Steve is installing new scales, and clearing out the pit area of the junk. Steve also is remodeling the restrooms with air conditioning and new flooring.
There will still be open practice days at the track. Racers will race for money with a banquet at the end of the series.
When I talk with Steve again and any more news, I will pass it on.
Butch McCall

Re: Kart Racing at Circleville Raceway Park
Sounds like good news although I don't see a class for 8-12 yr olds.... Would also love to see a schedule that does not conflict with KRA. If these two things line up we would definitely be there!

Re: Kart Racing at Circleville Raceway Park
The 206 Jr class would be for 8-12 yr olds.
Thanks for the response Chris, we need some more racers to weigh in on this.

Re: Kart Racing at Circleville Raceway Park
I will definitely support Steve and activity at Circleville. Too bad they can't get something going this year since IVKC has split from Adkins and is looking for a new venue.
Even if Steve runs the show, MSOKC can still reorganize and maybe take on some well-defined projects for him.

Re: Kart Racing at Circleville Raceway Park
My kids miss CRP and would love to to come back. We would be interested in a 206 cadet class. A bunch of us have 8-12 year olds who run cadets. The 206 is cheap and slow enough for the kids to have fun and best of all it'll help bring in new racers.
Having Steve run things let's us racers focus on racing and not running a club.

Re: Kart Racing at Circleville Raceway Park
Thanks Bill and Matt....I would like to return to CRP myself. Steve needs to look at New Castle's schedule and set his so they don't conflict with each other.

Re: Kart Racing at Circleville Raceway Park
After being away from karting for 10-12 years and having had a great time with the club l would like to see the Tag Senior class revived if possible. Had a great time back them with all the people I raced with before my job required me to work weekends. Now that I have retired I have plenty of free time for karting and would love to get away from the motocross before it beats me up to bad....lol. Just some thoughts.

Re: Kart Racing at Circleville Raceway Park
Well......I stopped at the track to see Steve. The dirt track is gone! Just needs some clean up. Steve has been working hard on the track. He is patching the cracks and bad spots, and has done a good job I think. He has re-painted the lines around the track and painted all the curbs. He says he's anxious to get kart racing back to CRP. He will close the track on October 24th and re-open May 1st 2019.
