Between race maintance
So many times I watch racers come off the track and take their kart to the pits and there it sets until the next heat or feature race.
Here are some things I check between races to make sure everything is good.
)As soon as the kart comes off the track...check tire temps and record on your set up sheet. )Put engine on TDC(4cycls.) )Plug exhaust with rubber stopper(4cycls.) )Connect plug wire )Record data and analyze results )Check tire condition )Check and adjust tire pressure )inspect drive train )Check wheel lugs )Check rear sprocket nuts )Clean chain with brass brush )Check chain tension..1/2" )check engine mounts )Lube chain and wipe excess off sprocket and chassis )Inspect air filter )Check fuel level )Change engine oil after practice and 1st heat race )inspect oil after draining )Measure 14oz. oil and re-fill crankcase )Tighten fill plug )Make necessary chassis and tire changes )Check all bodywork and weights for secure as well as all nuts and bolts
Make a check list and go over it.
